video, 30:00 min, bird extrements on the concrete, 2015
‘The starry heavens above me, the moral law within me’.
This famous quote by Immanuel Kant is teasingly used in my work. Image seeming to be a vast cosmic space, is as a matter of a fact a very earthly object, with large number of bird excrement on the concrete. This radical contrast of infinite depth and tangible flatness is a reflection on the human perception of illusion, searching for meaning. It also poses the question whether what we think we see is what we really see. The other aspect of this work is its connection with the concept of fractal, searching for the same patterns in various phenomena.
